You'll love a 9-5......it's all good... I've never owned a 9000, but there was just a fresh post on the BB about someone who upgraded to a 9-5 and loved it. What's not to love? A 9-5 is a state of the art luxury performance sedan that competes very well with the world's best luxury performance sedans and wagons for lots less $$$ than some.
Particularly on the reliability score. 9-5's are built in the Trollhattan plant entirely remodeled and improved for quality to the tune of something like $700 million dollars by GM for 9-5 production. 9-5's in particular have fared very well with Consumer Reports and JD Powers and now a solid reason to select a 9-5 vs European sedans is reliability.
This is a wonderful problem solving BB, but some of the common items described by some posters aren't really common at all overall. My 2000 9-5 Aero SportWagon, 55k miles, hasn't had any of the problems mentioned, not one. 9-5's are overall fairly bulletproof and un-fussy, not that we'll be able to close any service departments soon, but on balance a well above average reliability and dependability record.
Modern cars all doom the shade tree mechanic, a Saab no worse than others.
