V6 vs I4 - reliability/maintenance & turbo

I know the V6 in the 95 isn't the same V6 that was in the 900 and 9000. I get the feeling that the 95 V6 may be a better deal - fewer DI issues. It needs a timing belt, but the I4 usually needs pulleys along with the serpentine belt.
I've seen a lot of 2001 95's with smoke at startup from turbo issues. Does the V6 have the same problem?
I want to buy a certified car, so I know the turbo would be replaced under warranty. But I want to keep the car after the certified warranty ends. I want to miss out on trouble spots down the road.
