We have a 2003 9-5 Linear with the 5 speed. The manual transmisison option is one of the main reasons we bought a Saab. We find the car to be plenty fast, with great fuel economy to boot. Saabs are always criticized in the auto press for having "rubbery" shifters, but ours shifts just fine. The clutch is light and the throws, although perhaps a little long, are smooth and precise. We have absolutely no complaints about the powertrain in our car.
I hope the test drive goes well.
