I have owned both...a 94 9000 Aero MT, a 2000 9-5 Aero AT and a 2003 9-5 Aero MT. The 9000 had far more problems than either 9-5 and spent a good deal of time in the shop. The 9-5's depreciate much quicker. The 2003 9-5 Aero handled the best of the 3 with the 2000 and the 1994 seeming very similar to each other although the 2000 9-5 was more comfortable. The 9000 had more torque steer than either 9-5 even with the BSR stage 1 in my 2003 making more torque. Both have great back seats but the front seats in the 9000 are better than the 2000 9-5 seats. The 9000 also has the versatility of a hatch but I far prefer the styling of the 9-5 sedan. The interior is also much more attractive in the 9-5 and the leather seems to hold up better over time.

My $.02...Get the 9-5 but hunt for a 2002 or later.
