About a month ago I decided to put my '92 9000 Turbo into semi-retirement and replace it with a 2002 Aero. Numerous visits to this board have given me second thoughts. Routine DI failures and turbo replacements that all seem to occur at around 50k are the major concerns. My 9000 has 169,000 miles on the clock, idles quiet and rock steady at 980 rpms. DI was replaced once at 86,000 miles, clutch at 90,000 and crank sensor at 150,000. TCS is premanently fixed and the car is a rocket with the ORIGINAL turbo. My question is this. Am I moving to a more fragile and less reliable car? Carrying around spare parts (DIC) in the trunk is ok for my Triumph Stag, but for a modern luxury vehicle?
Is the 2002 Aero any less prone to these problems than earlier 9-5s?
Are reports of these problems on this board out of proportion to real life situations? Has ANYBOBY done 100,000 plus without these unfortunate happenings?
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
