I am having a charging problem with my 96 Volvo 850 Turbo (Bosch Alternator)and FCPGroton shows the same regulator you noted for the 9-5 (1197311234). Interestingly, FCP also shows the same regulator for my 92 Volvo 940 (Denso Alternator). I actually took the regulator out of the 850 (tight space!) and the part number is 1197311520 and it does not look like the x234. In particular the x234 doesn't look like it has the blade connector for the L+ wiring. Are they, nonetheless, interchangeable?

Also, do you know a link that shows pictures of worn out brushes or can you tell me how to tell?

BTW, if I am geting 13.6 at the alternator and 12.6 at the battery (at idle) - would you think I have an alternator malfunction or a wiring problem between the alt and the batt? I measured at the battery at idle on my 940, my 9-5 wagon, and on my Toyota Previa and all three of them show 14.5 at the battery. But folks at Brickboard don't think 13.6 at the alternator (or battery)on the 850 is too low. Makes me wonder, though, if I have both an alt problem and a wiring problem. Any suggestions?

Sorry to ask Volvo questions on a SAAB site, but the SAAB's not giving me any problems!!!!

Regards, Calvin (92 940 198K, 94 Previa 133K, 96 850 T 97K, 99 9-5 Wagon 102K)
