The article you linked is mostly correct. Most cars will not get better mileage or performance if you use gasoline higher than what is recommended by the manufacture. What the article leaves out it that this is because most auto makers don't bother to map the ECUs in their cars to advance the timing and do whatever else is required to take advantage of higher octane fuel. The ECU in my Aero however is mapped to 93 octane or maybe even a bit higher so it will take advantage of higher octane fuel and get better mileage and performance.
