Having owned a civic, an accord, two preludes and an Odyssey (all great cars) the sales pitch is easy.

The 9-5 is a much more substantial car - solid - as compared to the Hondas and provides probably the safest environment on the road today.

The level of comfort alone clinches it for the 9-5 vs the accord. The seats in the Saab are made for almost endless driving. Trying to get comfortable in the Honda seats was a problem and was my biggest issue with those cars. Also, if you can get the ventilated seats - nothing else even comes close.

The Saab has a great look as well - lots of character. This is something that Honda has lost over the years, they have plain looking exteriors and very boring colours. The Saab is unique and people take notice.

And of course there is the huge torque produced by the Saab. The honda v6 has good power and the vtec surge at 5000 rpm from my 01prelude was thrilling but the Aero turbo is much better. This may not be as important to your wife so you may want to keep this to yourself!

And the kicker is that the Saab will top 43 mpg(imperial gallon) on the highway, the best you will get with an Accord v6 will be 30-32 mpg.
