I test drove a 2000 Aero wagon 5spd and liked what the car had to offer, however found a few problems that most likely offer the full story of how it was taken care of. The first problem I found was the gear shifter would stick lightly in first and third. And when it was in 2nd, I felt like it was barely engaged. It didn't feel like it had the normal gear length I am used to in my Viggen when it was in 2nd. I was thinking a possible engine mount or a mis-aligned gearbox would cause this?? but not sure. Has anyone else experienced this??
The other problem was with the brakes. They seemed to be soft and unresponsive. It felt that it should be more dramatic and crisp. Especially since I checked and there were brand new pads on all four.
With a couple of major/minor door dings on each side and a light touch of overspray on the front hood...I decided to walk. There will be more...right??
It would have been tough to let a spoiled and well cared for 99 viggen that drives perfectly be replaced for a nice aero wagon that is needing some TLC at such a young age.
