I've been investigating this lately, as we are considering doing this to coincide with a Scandinavia cruise in June.
1) Big disadvantage is that you CANNOT use Saab Financing for either loan or lease purposes. You HAVE to go with a third-party lender. Pretty silly in my book.
2) The two dealers I've spoken with in the Seattle area indicate that they do not/cannot deal lower than the Saab discount.
3) You actually buy the car 30 days prior to delivery. This means that your payments start 30 days before you see the car, and really 75 days or so before you get the car back in the States (assuming 45 days for delivery).
4) If you do a trade-in, it's also due 30 days prior to delivery. So no car for 75+ days.
Those are the disadvantages as far as I can see. I personally think that Saab has screwed up this program by not offering financing or leasing through its own Saab Financial arm. Our neighbor did the Euro delivery for a BMW, got a lease, was able to keep his other car until the new one came in, and the new car's lease didn't start until he picked up the car in Europe.
