Since the 9-5 is a unitized body , like most contemporary cars, and has a pretty sophisticated unitized body structure off of which a ton of other parts are hung. Everyting can flex as the car goes over different surfaces and sometimes just the right amount of torque can make something make a noise as it shifts ever so slightly. If I lower my drivers window even the slightest amount, I can duplicate the noise you describe. There are probably over 4000 spot welds on the unitized body on a 9-5, and if one of them pops, you might get thi type f noise as well. Unless it is a noise that you can show your tech and it is repeatable,it will be pretty hard to isolate. good luck though. Sunroof is a possible culprit though.
