defroster fan running on low speed after car shut down

My ACC unit was replaced last week under warranty, right about the time temperatures dropped into the single digits and below here in upstate NY.
Last night after pulling into the garage and shutting the car down, I noticed a light whirring fan noise. I put my hand up over the defroster vents in the front dash and could feel a very light amount of warm air coming out. This continued for approximately 15 minutes before stopping on its own. I did not engage the V6's "after-heater" function.
Then this morning, I turned the ignition to the point where the car has battery power, and the defroster fan came on again, very low speed. The ACC was off, no display. Upon starting the car, the ACC set itself to my preferred default settings, as expected.
Has anyone else noticed this low speed defroster fan running after shutdown in cold weather? I am hoping that this is a "normal" feature of the new ACC, and not something that is not supposed to be occuring.
