I called the dealer and asked them if this was a FM connection or a direct connection. The person I talked to said it was a direct connection not FM. I guess he could have been misinformed or just lied to me. You call them tomorrow and decide for yourself.
XM's web site shows a direct unit, currently not listed for a Saab, so at this point I am not sure if the Saab parts guy I talked to was misinformed or if they in fact have a unit that can hook it up directly. Most of the Saab parts folks I have talked to know what they are talking about or say the will find out. So, at this point I can not say for sure.
BTW, a friend of mine just bought a 2004 AERO, he is a long time HIFI geek, and he just had a SIRIUS FM unit installed in his car a week ago with the FM connection and says he is very satisfied with the audio quality and can not really hear a difference in the Sirius sound quality and the CD. Another tread here suggested that the qualify of the insallation makes all the different in the sound quality.
I will be calling the dealer again tomorrow and will talk to the parts manager so I can better understand what the have and why they say it is exculsive on their web site????
So I was not interpreting I was only passing along the information I was given over the phone.
