My 1999 9-5 lpt 140km is blowing hot air on the driver (me indeed) again !!! After complaining about temperature in the car, testing the ACC unit, discovering the code 8 error, reading about it on this site, a little panic and lots of research, I finally found THE guy.

Pierre Lemieux, from Amico, a little garage in St-Jean Port Joli, one hour east of Quebec City (418) 598-9363

The job took 30 minuts and costed about 325$

Lemieux is an enthousiast Saab specialist and he makes parts to help these rather complicated and too high tech cars to keep running without costing 5000$ per year of maintenance. He made for the code 8 a little metal pipe to "glue" back together the stupid plastic part that was broken because the flap that determine the air temperature is too heavy to moove than plastic can bear. (by the way, this is obviously a wrong design that Saab canada and the horrible Decarie Dealer dont want to hear about...)

Lemieux also made an Idler pulley made of aluminum instead of plastic, the part does not seem to last longer on my point of view but it is supposed to whine before breaking, giving a signal to a careful driver, plus it cost about the same price than the plastic one... Worth to try...

He can sell parts and ship, call him, he has no web site but I think he has an agent or distributor in the US.

If your a DY type of guy and you are meticulous, you could do it for 5$ I guess since the part is really a piece of 1/2" normal tubing... There is a guy on saabpics.org that explain it well, but I cant tell I would have had a success with this! I thing you can get things worse by breaking the plastic part insite the flap box.

the 325$ where worth the deal, i love my car again!

Good luck keep posting on this code 8 scandal, it really helps!!!
