Perhaps it is yet another Tech 2 setting that has to be specified by the owner. There are way too many of those on this car. When I had my door locks set up for what is termed "European locking" where one push opens all four doors,they did it so the keys did it, but for some reason, the center console button still worked under the American locking scheme,where two pushes are required. I had to plead with the tech that they should, and could work the same way.My point is that it ought to be pretty obvious that if you set up your keys to work one way, then the console switch should be tied in with that. Keeping track of all the things that can be set with the Tech 2 is a huge chore.
