My wife and I were at Costco one day and the local Madza dealer was there handing out $20 gift cards for a test drive. How can you pass that up?
My '00 SE wgn is pretty much my benchmark of comparison for all other cars I test drive. These are my observations...
1. I don't recall the horsepower of the Mazda, but it didn't have the punch of the Saab. But then again, very few cars do especially off the line.
2. The interior was very "American-esque". Chinsy plastic everywhere and average fit and finish.
3. Seats weren't nearly as comfortable. And lower quality leather.
4. Climate and radio controls were not very intuitive. Too many lights and winky-winks on the dash. Very distracting.
5. With the windows down, there was a ton of wind noise. And it felt like we were sitting in a wind tunnel.
6. Cargo space was suffient and comparable to the Saab.
7. Definitely not worth the $23K sticker new. As a used, second car for about half that, I'd definitely consider it.
Hope this helps.
