I just bought a 2001 aero with 44000 miles on it and will attempt to service it myself.
I have 99,900 and 9000 cars now so Saab is not new to me.
I have questions on items if I could please get help.
What is the stock thermostate temp . and is it good for all year.
Iam used to changing thermostates in my other cars for winter and summer
is this needed on a 9-5 in Pennsylvinia weather.
Cabin air filer how ofter should you change it I understand it is a pain to replace.
Drive belt and pully how often to change and I understand they have gone to a one pully system and short belt.
Drive belt tensioner how long do they last.
Timing chain and balance shaft chain and related parts, how long do they last if good oil is used and changed every 5000 miles, or should it be changed more often. I understand that the life is better in 9-5 than 9000 but I do not know why.
Fuel filter being the tank is plastic is the service 60000 miles.
PVC upgrade, I understand that there are a few , which one is the best.
Who makes the best service manual.
Where can you jack the car up in the front.
If the battery is disconnected for sometime do you have to reprogram SID,
locks and etc.
Is there a way to permanently program the glass breakage off.
This is a real great car and I would like to keep the service up
Anyother tips would be appriciated, thanks
