Thanks again, buck, for posting the heater box repair you worked up.
But I need some help. I did the following:
- removed the four torx screws holding the under the steering wheel trim plate (just above the driver's pedals), and disconnected the OBD connector.
- looked to the accelerator side of the footwell and saw the heater box.
- on the side of the box is what looks like a square vent pointing downward, and on its side was a motor assembly with a round end to it. I unbolted (6mm hex/Phillips head screws) the motor (it has a white power lead going to it), then unbolted this square vent box.
- when I did that, the broken bright yellow arm half dropped down and out of the heater box. I now have it in my hand.
The other half of this yellow arm, however, remains in place on the heater box, and turns when I manually turn the heater box "mixer flap" (which is a round piece of plastic that moves to reveal a 30 degree slice hole in the side of the heater, allowing or blocking air to come through).
My questions now are: do I need to remove the rest of the broken yellow arm?
Do I just fashion the part you detailed, then reassemble with the remaining broken piece in place?
Thanks everyone for your help. My frozen toes are really frozen today (it is 12 degrees here in NJ).
