I read both the TSB and Cover Letter from SaabUSA on Taliaferros' web site addressing this issue. Although the TSB just tells Dealers to stop installing this Update and to wait for further directions, the Cover Letter signed by SaabUSA's chief technical person has a little more information.
The cover letter informs Dealers to immediately reverse the installation of this latest update on all cars which experienced excess oil consumption after the modification was installed!
Since it is a balmy 30 degrees here today I spent 5 minutes under the hood to swap the positions of the small PCV line and rubber cap, and to remove the one-way restrictor check valve. I replaced the check valve with a 1/2-inch barbed hose connector I picked up at Home Depot for $1.79. I wanted either nylon or brass since I didn't know what might happen to a poly-butyl connector with under hood temperatures. Home Depot made it easy, they only had brass.
I saved the check valve pending Saab's future instructions. The oil trap still has the enlarged 10mm orifice. I'll monitor oil level to see if my oil consumption problem suddenly abates.
