I have used a ground down fan belt for four clutches i have done on:1987-1991 900's. i don't know if you can use your old shim-you will have to see once you remove cover and have someone depress pedal and see if you old belt fits. If not, grind down another on bench grinder to appropriate thickness. Recommend have flywheel turned and replace rear main seal-assume your replacing slave. would use sachs turbo clutch since heavier duty than non-turbo unit. strongly recommend vacumn pump to speed up bleeding. Bought one for $25 at parts store-kinda steep $$, but I have used to bleed calipers/replace brake fluid several times with great success! good luck.
