A length of #8 solid copper wire (no insulation) works well assuming you have hydraulic pressure to depress the clutch fingers. Drive the wire in place under the fingers with a screwdriver. You'll have to reattach the slave cylinder with the three screws before you depress the clutch pedal. A ball-ended allen wrench greatly speeds removing/replacing the three screws securing the slave cylinder. If you don't have hydraulic pressure, you'll have to depress the fingers one at a time to get the spacer installed. It's a pain, but do-able. Saab has a special tool for this that's shown in the Bentley manual if I recall correctly.
If you go the sawzall route, be sure not to cut into the clutch shaft.
