My first ride in a Saab (my friend's 99, while we were in college): I look in vain for the seatbelt buckle, and finding none, pull out the strap, and say, "What the hell and I supposed to do with this? Hold it in my teeth?" His reply: "You've never been in a Saab before, have you?" I then just watched in disbelief as he put his hand down between the seats, and cranked the engine.
Other people's comments in my cars:
(1980 99): Are these seatbelts (w/o buckles) really safe?"
(C900): "OK, I give. How do you lower the window?
(C900): when offering the use of the car to help someone move to a new apartment: "Well, you really don't have too much room in it (900 hatchback)". This comment was recinded when she saw me crawl all the way in.
Of course, the one we've all had: Salesman: "Are you sure it'll fit in your car?"
And, related to that, my favorite, all-time comment: When buying a dining table and 4 chairs:
Salseman: "When do you want us to deliver it?"
Me: "Oh, I have my car. I can just put it in there".
Salesman: "What kind of car"
Me: "Saab hatchback"
Salesman: "When do you want us to deliver it"
Me, sizing up the packages again: "Just meet me around back"
I will never forget the look on his face as I fit a table and 4 chairs in, shut the hatch, and said "I'll be back latter to pick up the papazan".
