Yep, that was it, Lachesis, it was the wheel bearing. got it fixed, mostly covered under warranty. Ran really nicely after it was fixed last week.

and now the bad news, my daughter is fine and came through it without a scratch but she rear-ended another car that stopped on the highway. All people are fine but the 1990 Saab Turbo is not. The front end is completely smooshed. Transmission is locked. it is a mess on the front end. From about 3 feet back the car looks like nothing happened. I am guessing about $3-4K to fix it. Time to retire it! Anybody want a parts car that is in the Rhode Island area???
