By all means, leave the manifold be. Remove the distributor and unbolt the oil feed line. Unbolt the headpipe from the exhaust outlet elbow and disconnect the 2 lines from the APC to the turbo. Now the fun part, the four bolts attaching the turbo to the manifold can be bastards-no tool is perfect but a 17mm open end and a 17mm socket on a breaker bar initially, then changing to a ratchet should do you. The open end goes on the nuts as a box won't grip do to poor access. The inner ones suck but can be had by reaching in under the manifold but travel is limited, particulary with a handle long enough to provide the needed torque. Your left forearm will be bruised.
Be sure to attach the outlet pipe to the turbo before reinstall as it won't go in after. Put the new o-ring, greased, on the tube and be sure it fully seats before snugging down the bastard bolts. Wire wheel them and cover 'em with never seize so you can finger turn them on and to make removal a breeze if it all doesn't go perfectly the first pass.
I did this job a couple of nights ago so it's very fresh in my mind.
