I got my 86 900T kind of the same way. They guy wanted $1,200 for it. The car was/IS well taken care of inside and outside. Probably garage kept for most of it's life. When I looked under the hood, the turbo to the muffler was new! When I drove it the clutch only would catch at the floor. I thought this was the pedal but asked him about it. He told me that the clutch was going bad. I offered $600 for the car WITH the bad clutch. He said his wife wouldn't budge on that price. He went in and out of the house several times talking to her. He even told me that there was SOMEONE else coming to look at it today. He broke at $800 and I got the title and car that day for cash. BTW I replaced the BAD CLUTCH with a new clutch pedal and have had no problems. Waiting is worth it to find the right car. It took me 6 months of hard searching to find that clean average mileage car. Good luck.
