thanks for the reply. i put the top in first and then tried compressing the lower to get it up onto the stud. then i tried what you mentioned, placing the bottom on first. that's when i realized that the sleeve in the bushing on the bilstein was the same size as the one that appears to be permanently fixed to the stud. then i started trying to get the sleeve out of the new bushing but realized i would end up destroying the new bushing to do so. i can't figure out where to go from here? am i missing something?
