Hi all. Ive inherited a non-running 84 saab 900s, 2dr, moon roof. Apparently the problem was that the fuel pump went out. The previous owner pulled the pump assembly and DRILLED holes into the plastic reservoir thinking that the priming pump was shot. Well they didn't have the $350 to replace the main pump and it has set up for two + years now. It is a stick w/ almuminum wheels and has only a little rust under the battery tray. The previous owners said that it ran OK before this bothced job. We are in Mississippi and the nearest authorized dealer/repair is in Memphis, TN - 50 miles away. They (non-dealer) say that their cost for doing the repair to the pump (only) would be $600 but he said that he would give the car a once over before he did the repair to let me know if it is worth it. My question to you all is - is it woth it? I'll just need it for an around town car. The good thing is that my wife actually wants me to keep and work on the car. I am quite comfortable with working on vehichles but I don't know a whole lot about Saabs and I need the advice of a guru to point out the trouble spots I shouhd be on the look out for. Thanks for the help.
