Charlie,
I am proud to have been the first install of John's new system.
Was their a performance gain? You bet ya. I've read this list for years and saw all the debates about Backpressure but guess what happens when you get this unrestricted exhaust system. Things get fun really quick, I don't know what the Horsepower gain* was but I know the RPM response has dramatically increased.
*(The reason I can't gauge the exact Horsepower increase is because I have the Rising Rate Regulator and Mustang GT Racing Injectors from Saab Savior and these upgrades were done within a week or two of each other)
Is it loud? That's a subjective question but give me a sec to explain.
If you mean loud, like those Civics & CRXs of the youngsters where their car is loud at any RPM, then no. The sound is refined at idle and low RPM (<3000), the secret of what you have under the car isn't out until you stomp the gas and push it past 2500; and even then the sound is nowhere near the obnoxious level of the Hondas.
The real benefit is that this will be the last exhaust system you will need to buy since it is stainless steel and keep in mind... This is not a Cat Back Exhaust system, this is from the Turbo Back.
Hope that helps and I can honestly say I've been satisfied now if I can only get them to begin production on a 9000... My life would be complete.
