If you have the front console with extra DIN slot and storage bin, you'll have to remove it by pulling out the rubber bellows in front of the gearshift, and removing the two screws holding it to the floor. Then remove the four screws holding the black plastic to the molded carpet.
You'll have to disconnect the power roof switch, if you've got one. Disconnect any stereo equipment from its wiring harness, and empty all of the crap from the bin (It's tough to pull the thing out without spilling its contents underneath the front seats.)
Pull the ashtray insert out of its home behind the cover, and then remove the screw holding the console to the dash.
Now you can remove the plastic innards from the console. Finally, the carpeted section can be removed.
As for the center floor console, pull the shift boot up off the floor. I think there are two exposed screws which should be removed. Don't bother with the three screws holding the shifter ball down.
The floor console has two parts- there is a plastic piece housing the square shifter boot base and surrounding the ignition lock. This piece is retained by two "fingers" which fit into the edges of the E-brake slot. It is a real PIA to get this thing off because it won't fit over the head of the key, and the key needs to be in the ignition to free the gearshift lever, and the lever needs to move to remove this plastic piece. Yep, it's catch-22. I can't remember exactly how to make it work, but it IS possible to remove this piece without breaking anything.
Once this piece is removed, then you can remove the two screws under the rear ashtray, and the final screw in the center of the console.
