Oil Light question...

I noticed today after a short drive on the interstate, that when I got off the exit, the oil light flickered briefly on my 1989 900S. It flickered approximately 3-4 times really quick, then went back off. My house was only about 3 miles away, and the car didn't do it again until I pulled into my driveway.
I couldn't really tell if it was when I was putting the transmission into park, or when I applied the brake, so I experimented - I pulled the parking brake, put the tranny into drive, then gently applied the gas. The engine surged (of course, under the rev), then when it met the resistance of the brake, the engine nearly died (but didn't), and went the rev's dropped off the oil light flickered on again.
I'm not sure if these two situations are the same or not, I think that when I was giving gas with the brake on, the engine was trying to die and lost oil pressure, but not sure.
Does this sound like a problem? Maybe oil pump? I check the level of oil and it was at the Max position. I always heard that any time the oil light come on, there's a problem. The car doesn't leak or burn any oil
thanks for any help,
Rob Catron
