For the rough idle:
- check that you have the right plugs and that they're properly gapped.
- check for vacuum leaks.
- run a tank of Redline SL-1 fuel injector cleaner. It helped with my 83-900T
- How old are your ignition wires?
For the hard starting when the engine is hot. I suspect that you're getting too much fuel. Try warming the engine up, disconnect the cold start valve, and try starting it in 20+ minutes. If it starts fine then you're getting too much fuel, and one of the temperature sensors that governs the CSV is bad. Do you see a puff of white smoke when it starts when the engine is hot?
