Rubber may have dried, but I would not give up. Brakes are biggest worry, and it sounds like you know to change the fluid and rebuild/replace anything leaking. I would drain the oil, drop the oil pan and clean out the gunk and replace the gasket, then change the oil filter, and use regular non-synthetic oil. Pull the valve cover and check for big globs of gunk which you can clean off with a rag and some light oil. Squirt some fresh oil around the valve mechanism and put on a fresh valve cover gasket. You might also have front and/or rear main engine seal leakage, but wait till you get it started and seal restorer/sweller might get you by. Commercial engine flush/diesel oil might be too harsh and just accelerate the seal leaks...just my opinion.

Before you start it, pull the plugs and squirt an ounce or so of oil into each of the cylinders. Pull the coil wire to the dist and crank engine to work the oil around. Spray some carb cleaner into throttle body and clean gunk off of the throttle butterfly. You probably should siphon the old gas out of the tank and replace with some fresh gas and replace the fuel filter.

My guess is that it will run and you won't have done any damage when starting up for the first time. You will probably then find some leaking vacuum hoses, and some odds and ends contributing to rough running. Some possibles: injector seals, cold start valve, O2 sensor, etc. But for $100-$200 you should be able to sort everything out.
