Belt Whine?

Hey all,
Just got all my V-belts replaced today. As soon as I first drove away from the shop, I heard a new whine. Gets higher pitched with higher revs. Same noise if I sit still and rev engine, so not load dependent. Same noise with or without A/C turned on. Went immediately back to the shop and asked the Saab master tech. He said not to worry about it. New belts maybe causing some bearing noise in alt (his guess) or A/C comp (my guess). Although the noise is kinda cool (sorta sounds like a turbo), bearing noise does not make me happy. Is this indeed in the realm of normal behavior? Is there a wear in, "stretch out" period for new belts? Or should I try loosening/tightening tension? A couple more relevant pieces of information:
-Old A/C belt was too skinny (same width as the P/S belt) I had it replaced with spec belt which was wider.
-Also had A/C work done today. R-12 recharge + leak dye/oil. They said it held good vaccuum and they didn't see any leaks. Air works good again on 2.5hr drive home in 100deg, but I noticed the belt's a little wobbly at idle with the A/C on full blast, and when I turn the car off, I still see the compressor spinning (not the belt or the pulley it's on, but the rest of the spinny part of the compressor) and hear a gradually diminishing hiss from the compressor (hope it's not leaking R-12!!!!!!)
Thanks,
'Roo
