Joe - I did this recently on my 85 900 Turbo with 200k miles, also rusted due to Minnesota salted roads in winter. I was ready to give up many times, but kept at it, eventually using a 2 lb mallet, hitting both sides of the joint (I used a chisel to transfer the load from the mallet to the top side of the joint). The mass of the mallet seemed to do the trick - I got nowhere using my old framing hammer. Hit my hands a few times (@#$%) but after 10 cummulative (not continuous - my arm (and hand!) couldn't take it) minutes with the mallet, it popped loose. I had the propane torch at the ready but didn't need it. Keep at it - it has to pop loose eventually!
