Hey all,

Everyone on this board has been incredibly friendly and helpful with all my problems - thanks to everyone!

As some of you might know, I just had the transmission replaced in my 92 900TC. There were quite a few things starting to go wrong with the vehicle before I took it in. Aside from the transmission, the vent in the center of my dash had stopped working, lights in the center console went out(by the heater/AC controls), and my driver's side window stopped working - the passenger and driver window clanked LOUDLY when rolled up or down, then driver's side finally gave out. Also, the dealer advised me that my O2 sensor needed to be replaced.

After having my car for 9 weeks, I went to pick it up this morning. I saw mechanics pop the hood and start crowding around the engine compartment poking and prodding things. Ten minutes later, a service rep comes in to advise me that the battery was dead and needed to be replaced. After coughing up $3000 for the new tranny, I almost went through the poor fellow! He told me he wouldn't charge me labor, but he would have to charge me for the battery ($75). I told him to just do it so I could leave. Shortly afterwards, I sat back in my cockpit and drove off in my old friend. I started playing with all the buttons again and noticed that several things had started working again!

All my windows work again, and none of them clank. My fan works. All my lights seem to be in good working order, as well as my cruise control. My 'check engine' light has come on a couple times, but it went out after a little time on the road. It beats me, but I'm not complaining!

I actually think that the minor problems were caused by an improper battery being used, or the battery being weak. Just an FYI for anyone who seems to have everything stop working all at once. If anyone has any ideas to add to this or correct my assumption, please post!

Thanks!
Cliff K.
