Help!! I just paid $2700 for:
a hydraulic unit & master cylinder & a wheel bearing and something else....
AND my brakes still don't work to my satisfaction. This leads me to drive paranoid and cautious because when I have laid on the brakes on the freeway, I have what seemed to be a loss of control of my steering... my car seemed to swerve from side to side...
Any suggestions on how to achieve more than adequate braking? I was told rotors and brake pads but don't trust my shop 'cos after what I invested you think they'd have told me what MORE I had to do to get adequate brakes. They did say, "your car will only have brakes up to '1990' standards." Seems to me that I don't need to be a Saab master mechanic to know that brakes are brakes.... all I need to do is STOP and don't cars from the '60s brake? Is it reeeeally rocket science? Were they correct in telling me that since my car's old, I wouldn't be able to stop like I want to? What does everyone else do to improve braking performance.
