I had that happen in the middle of winter>>>>> Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Sat, 29 Sep 2001 16:38:26 In Reply to: driver side windshield wiper quit working, Patrick-N-MI, Sat, 29 Sep 2001 15:49:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It sounds like the cable came off. The mechanic was right, the whole mechanism has to come out. I believe I fought with it for about an hour and a half and it was all fixed.
Remove the wipers- two 13mm nuts
remove the two rubber seals on the cowl
two nuts under the rubbers-remove
two bolts on the firewall-10mm-remove
The whole assembly should be loose
I removed the three screws that hold the motor to the bracket and made sure the motor was free of the assembly.
Now the fun begins. There is just enough room to get that bastard out. Alot of wrestling and you should be able to do it. When you finally get it out, pay close attention on how it actually came out, because you're going to have to put it back in the exact same way.
I don't remember the details on getting the cable back on, but it wasn't that hard. I think there is an adjusting nut you loosen, loop the cable, then tighten the nut but don't hold me to that.
