OK.... Sat down in my garage. Drank a beer. Told the Saab that it would be sold for parts if it did not comply. Picked up a hammer and screwdriver and WHACK, WHACK, WHACK. All three nuts came loose. Amazing what beer, and the power of positive thinking can do to a Saab.
Now I have the entire shifter assy apart and on my bench. Anybody know how to get the ignition switch out??? I see the hole on the underneath side on the housing. I pushed all sorts of thing up it and turned the key and pulled with grips, but the switch will not budge. Time for another beer and another threat maybe.
Also someone mentioned a torn bushing (common failue item) that causes the shift rod to bind prevents you from getting 1, 2 and reverse gear to engage. Where is that bushing located? I see a boot on the interior side of the firewall. Is is inside that boot or in the engine compartment? Thanks, Tom
