Hi Tim,

I have 900 '88 for 3 years and from my experience I would suggest to look at following things:
1. Power steering (look for leaks)
2. Turbo (this is quite problematic to check but look if on control panel it does not enter into red)
3. Gearbox (check if you can switch the gears without any problems)
4. Power windows (check if they work properly)
5. Headliner condition

I think I mentioned all the items which caused me problems and I had to fixed after the purchase of the car.
By the way this very depends on the car owner and how he has maintained the car. I bought mine with just 52K miles covered
but it had these problems which normaly had to appear somewhere at 120K miles. Anyway I love my car and it is great.
I use it on daily base 365 days a year and it has never failed me.
