I have a screw-on Amsoil bypass on my 87 900T, transferred it from the 84 900T. I used a couple pieces of brass pipe and couplings, T-adaptor at the oil pressure tap; not the remote oil filter/bypass assembly.
I ran long pieces of aeroquip kevlar braided rubber lined (teflon is ok, but overkill and unnecessary IMHO; used to run braided SS, but that's another story) hose from the bypass mount to the oil pressure tap and the oil filler hose. Just drilled/mounted the amsoil hollow screw into the top of the oil filler tube...be careful to mount the hose so it doesn't vibrate or hang on the plastic filler tube or it will break/crack the tube.
I've ended up changine the oil and full flow filter on my turbos every 10K miles...the carbon particulate buildup overcomes the bypass in about 20K miles or so, so I change out the bypass filter every other oil change. Oil analysis is a wonderful thing....once you understand how your engine in particular tends to load up the oil. Although with an n/a engine, you should easily be able to go a year or 25K on the oil.
Dick recommended 0W-30 amsoil. I use 0W-30 series 2000 on my 87 900T because it holds it for 10K miles between oil changes with the rebuilt engine. I use 10W-40 amsoil marine synthetic on the other three cars because it's the best price break on amsoil synthetic oils plus it has a better anticorrosion package for low usage engines. Both turbo volvos and the new audi V8 use very little oil between oil changes (zero on the AUdi).
