Well that machine shop guy has allot to learn.
The Loctite modification was my doing back in 1981. I learned the hard way as every customer I had complained about the loud snap on turning sharp and backing up. After total disassembly of the front end and a buch of hours, On a brand new 81 900T mind you, ALSO the dealer didnt have a clue at that time either ..... I came to the conclusion it was the bearing moveing in its bore. Further I couldnt see how installing another bearing would solve the problem. Then I remembered from my early days when I Worked in a Automotive machine shop and would bore out engine cylinders and install sleeves. The Master machineist taught me to coat the sleeves with Red Loctite and freeze them. I would heat the block and drive the sleeves home. The same applies to the Saab 900 Front wheel bearing. With this method I have never had a failure. If you ever have to remove a old bearing thats had the loctite applied ...The Loctite actualy acts like a lubricant when you apply heat as you press the old bearing out. That SaabMaster web site is shareing with you 30 years of hands on experience. If you choose not to loctite the bearing ... It may take several months, but the old snap will be right back and probally worst than it ever was.
