How is the spark issue related? What is the circuit connection?

82Tw/APC - I had a curious symptom some weeks ago that has gone away. No power to the fuel pump. The fuse was fine, so I thought perhaps the fuel pump relay was at fault. I replaced that with a known working relay, but the symptom remained. So in order to drive around until I could figure what was at fault I installed a switch (bypassing the fuel pump relay) to manually run the fuel pump and CIS system. The car ran fine. So the next day while attempting to isolate the problem, I removed the manual switch and reinstalled the relay and was surprised and pleased that the car started and ran as per normal. No problem since. Don't exactly know if the no-spark issue is related to that specific incident, but any insight may help in the event it happens again.
