After taking my car in to get the head gasket fixed, and after they broke a tooth off the flywheel and pulled that all apart and fixed that, we have another problem that is not diagnosable, and so I coming to you to ask if you might know what the deal is.

As soon as we got the car back, I noticed that when I started it, it hesitated when I pressed on the accelerator, for just a moment, and then once the car got warmed up, it seemed to be alright. This progressively got worse over the next couple of days until day before yesterday when my wife was driving it and the whole car just seemed to lose power, but then come right back to life. You would be driving along and it would just cut out and then come back on. It started doing this on and off as she was driving it. She brought it home and told me that I could drive it the next day. So yesterday I got into it to go to work. I turned the key and it struggled, and would not start. I waited. I tried again and it started up. The problem was noticeably worse, and I barely made it to work. At one point, the whole system crapped out and I was coasting at 60 with no power. I had to kick it into Neutral and start it on the roll and keep it going. So I parked it where a wrecker could reach it because I figured that it would have to be towed. Well, I was right. I came out from work, and it was dead to the world. They towed it back to the shop.

Well, I just got a call from them and they have run a bunch of tests on it, whatever that means, and they cannot figure out what the deal is. Now they are saying that they have to test a couple of other modules that are "expensive" and that the guy does not have in his shop. They are also saying that they are going to have to start charging me if they go any further on this deal. This is a pain in the ass, Tom.

Do you have any idea what the deal is here? Does this sound familiar? Could this be a problem resulting from the repair that they did? I don't know if it matters, but I did have the shop put Mercedes Anti-freeze in it for the first time when they did the repair.
