First find a good junkyard fender. Study it well before cutting. The doors need to be removed. A plasma cutter works well. Cut along the door column and around the inner fender well, and below the turn signal. Make sure the fender skin and inner "tub" stays intact. Back at your workshop remove the excess, this is where you get good with a spot weld cutter. I found drilling a small 3/32" pilot hole after a centerpunch in the spot worked best. Run about 500 rpm with cutting oil. Put an old rug on your bench to save the fender finish.
To remove the old one on your car remove the doors, mark the hinges first. Cut the spots on the door line and in front first. Remove the stuff in the inner fender. The vacuum reservior is tight, do not break it, pull the fender out. The fusebox is really tricky. Unbolt it from the body, 3 nuts, two are under the dash. Unplug the wires from inside, they are color coded. There is slack on the right side of the wire across the firewall, the wiper must be unplugged. Pull the fuse box up and over and bungee out of the way. Now the sawzall can be used, cut the inner fender near the flange. Remove the spots on the flange.
Clean both sides really well, and drill 3/16" holes in the new fender flange and all other spots. Use a wire feed welder to spot weld after clamping all over.
Treat the bare steel and apply new undercoat.
Re install the components in the fenders-thats about it.
