I'd be concerned about it. At 4'-11" she'll be pretty close to the steering wheel/airbag when she's driving. These airbags were designed for the average male who, relative to your fiancee, has arms like an orangutan (sitting much further back from the wheel) and weighs a few good stone more.

So, I'd say, "Yes, for her it can be a very desirable thing to disable it."

It becomes a legal issue for a dealer or mechanic more than a technical one. Their thinking is something to the effect of, "Can I be sued if someone gets maimed or killed because I disabled the bag?"

It's pretty easy to change out the wheel to a pre-airbag wheel. I don't think that there's a practical way to put a key disable like some of the more recent cars have. But, there's still that niggling liability issue because it's a gummint-mandated safety device.

Then, there's the issue of resale of the car after the bag has been disabled. Who carries the liability then.

It's a lot to think about. Good luck.
