After owning a base 92 900 5 speed I have been pretty happy but the lure of the extra ponies and the turbo are certainly enticing but when I stick my head into the engine bay inspecting the extra complexity...whell I have to ask are the extra power yielding complexities worth a few extra hours of maintenance? I think heck yes!!
I was looking at a 93 900 turbo with a modest 100k on the clock and fairly nice... nothing that a little tlc wouldnt cure. What concerned me was what I couldnt see below sheen of detail spray. There was an oil leak somewhere in the sea of plumbing evidenced on the skid plate...whats a little oil you say? controls corrosion... a little drip of coolant reaching the ground directly below the turbo....and a little metallic chinking sound on a fairly regular basis again somewhere around the turbo while the engine was running. Kinda sounded like maybe a chip going though someblades [and not a potato chip]and anyway if it is a turbo trying to lose a little weight it is really nothing a little cash cant fix! A guess a little advice on what to look for in a pre buy and potential problem areas would be greatly appreciated thanks jk
