Hello O wise ones!!! haven't been here in a while but I know this is where to turn when Good SAABS go Bad. 86' 900S 5 Sp. Just got the car back from someone whom I let drive it for a while and here's how it has been returned to me. The last thing the person did was back out of a Parking spot. Then went to put it in first gear and...nothing...As though it was in neutral... Since I have had the car back I try to put it in any gear and I dont think the shifter is actually Actuating the shift rod of the tranny. The shifter feels too "light" Is this a common problem? Do the shifter and shift rod ever come loose from each other and stop working the Cogs in the tranny? I looked at it from Atop the engine while a friend shifted and it "seems" to be moving...I know I must get under it to tell for sure, but heres the question. If the shift rod is being moved by the shifter and I'm still not getting into ANY gears what could it be? DOes it require a trans removal? GASP. Right side cover removal of the trans? That may tell a story too...I will know more today but I just wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar experience with the 5spd manual....Could be a simple fix COuld be really Bad I suppose....Just wanted to ask the people who know....Thank you all in advance...
Dave.
