get most all of the fluid changed...you can't drain the fluid that's in the torque converter, only that in the pan - 30-40% of the total.
USE ONLY TYPE F. Dexron/mercon will slowly -or not so slowly slip the tranny and wear off all the friction material...will greatly shorten the tranny life. Don't use it, even tho a lot of shops say it's ok.
You'll only get about 3 qts of fluid out each time you drain the pan, there are those that change the 3 qts every other engine oil change, and some have gotten way over 100k out of the tranny.
