....they are just regular bulbs coated with blue coloring, and sometimes "xenon gas filled" which doesn't do a whole lot. The really blue ones look brighter sometimes but don't illuminate as well as real xenons which you CAN get for 300 to 700 bucks but you would lose high beams unless you get the Bellof system with a special servo that rotates to allow high usage. The bellof system in h4 the euro light bulb size) costs 1200 for the low/high system, and 1000 for the low only, http://www.hids4less.com sells good kits for ALOT less but they don't have a system that retains high beam usage. HOWEVER, if you want to get good bulbs, the PIAA super plasma 80/80 watt bulbs (or something like that) are great, but you may wanna check with others to see if that creates too much heat for the housings to withstand.... the piaa bulbs are all nice on all levels, the hyperwhites they have are a good buy and are very nice and are white and don't have the blue look, or atleast not anythin noticeable. I know this is kinda long, but i wanted to cover it all in 1 post. Hope this helps you out in your decision making. OH yeah, 1 more thing, if you go with standard hyperwhites, stay with a lower wattage (55/65 or 65/65, i prefer 65/65) since you don't need to make up for the loss of light that the blue tint of the plasma bulbs create). These are just my oppinions and things i've observed, good luck with your new lights.
