Help!!! I just received my 65Watt x 4 channel amplifier in the mail, and was getting ready to install it beneath the rear seat (passenger side) when I discovered this huge (~10" x 3") boxed sheet metal beam streching across the entire width of the back seat, right over where I intended to install the amp! Now I can snake the amp under this "beam" with about an 1/8th inch clearence and an inch or so on each side, to the point where the front edge of the amp is flush with the front of the beam. But, I'm concerned there isn't enough air volume surrounding the Amp in this location to allow for proper convective cooling.
I'd really rather not install the amp beneath/behind the passenger seat as there's practically no room for peoples feet already. The way I see it, that leaves me with the Trunk. Now, remember, this is a convertible. There's practically no room in the upper portion of the trunk, as-is, and I like to haul my Golf clubs back there. So, how about in the well of the trunk, where the spare tire usually is stored? The spare tire on my car is mounted upright (half in the lower well, half extending up into the trunk, proper) against the driver's side of the trunk.
Am I too concerned about cooling? Would the Back seat option still work? Any opinions out there???
